Speech Title: A Power-Efficient Class AB OTA with Slew Rate
Enhancement Technique
Abstract:
This paper presents a power-efficient fully differential
operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) with slew rate enhancement
technique. The proposed design is a class AB two-stage OTA, where the first
stage employs adaptive bias and the second stage utilizes push-pull
operation to achieve high power efficiency. The source of the input pair in
the first stage is driven by a wide swing flipped voltage follower (FVF),
resulting in higher transconductance and a larger linear input range. By
introducing additional gain paths, the swing at the input of the second
stage is increased thus the slew rate of this OTA is enhanced. Additionally,
our design employs complementary series MOS transistors as AC-coupling
resistors at the input of the second stage, guaranteeing high impedance
during slewing, effectively ensuring signal’s AC coupling through
capacitors. Simulation results show an outstanding large-signal
figure-of-merit (FOML) of 455V-1 for this OTA, significantly surpassing OTAs
with conventional structures.
